Much of Truro's allure lies in its "end of the world" feeling stemming from its combination of sandy dunes and crashing surf. Because approximately 70% of Truro's land is protected by the National Seashore, Truro does not count as many beach communities as other larger towns on the Cape.
Located north of Pamet Harbor, Corn Hill Beach is the site of a stunning collection of estates perched high on the dunes overlooking the beach. A number of the homes feature contemporary architectural design and were specifically constructed to set off the wild, natural beauty of the area. Ballston Beach, the southernmost beach in Truro, is home to more traditional beach cottages and is a popular destination for boogie boarding and body-surfing.
