The Stoneholm

Built in 1907 on Beacon Street in Brookline, The Stoneholm is considered one of Boston’s finest pre-war apartment buildings. The property was originally constructed as a showpiece for Beacon Street when it was widened to serve as a promenade.

Today The Stoneholm is recognized as a Beaux-Arts jewel with an elegant entrance distinguished by mosaic tiles, marble, and granite. French doors open to the marble foyer lined with stained glass windows, as well as other period details. The property was converted to 31 condos in 1996 with distinctive wings flanked by separate elevators and marble staircases leading up to the apartments.

Layouts run from 1-3 bedroom spacious floor plans ranging from 700 to 3,000+ SF. Owners combined some units since the original conversion to create more dramatic spaces. Many of the original design elements remain from the marble fireplaces in the units to columns and pilasters in the halls to decorative picture moldings. Select units feature built-in window seats from which to enjoy the views from oversize windows. Apartments have all been updated to included central A/C, in-unit laundry, and contemporary kitchens with stainless appliances.
