South Hingham

South Hingham is a collection of planned neighborhoods that offer rolling hills, an abundance of land, and towering pinewoods for a distinctive pastoral feel. The area comprises several different Hingham neighborhoods, including Liberty Pole; the Prospect and Scotland Areas, Gardner Street, and the Black Rock Country Club

Prospect and Gardner Streets, while busy, are family favorites with many of the houses built in 1950-1970 with wide open spaces for kids to bike and play. Homes on Gardner Street are more distinct with many set back on the road on large lots fringed with pinewoods. The winding narrow street gives the neighborhood more of the feel of a country lane, despite its close proximity to Route 53. Upper Gardner is slightly more isolated from the rest of town with a cluster of Cape homes on wide, quiet streets and even a few select waterfront homes situated on Accord Pond.

South Hingham is roughly bounded by Ward and Cushing Streets to the north, Wompatuck State Park to the east, Hanover to the south and Weymouth to the west.  Residents cite the close proximity to Route 3 and the conveniences located along Route 53 as part of the neighborhood’s appeal as well as the affordable price tags in comparison to other Hingham communities.
