South Boston Real Estate
South Boston or “Southie” is one of Boston’s oldest and best known neighborhoods. Not to be confused with the South End, residents of South Boston have seen much in the community change yet still maintain a strong sense of local pride. Properties range from new construction options with all the amenities on the West Side to historic single-family homes, and more traditional triple-deckers subdivided into condos on the East side. South Boston houses long stretches of beach and parkland along Dorchester Bay ideal for runners and nature-lovers. Other residents appreciate the convenience of being both close to Downtown as well as the Mass Pike to get to points west of the city. As housing prices have soared in other Boston neighborhoods, South Boston has become a hot spot for Millennials. Read more about South Boston real estate.

More About South Boston Real Estate
South Boston Location
South Boston is located south and east of the Fort Point Channel and stretches along Dorchester Bay. The neighborhood includes many of the channel islands, including Castle Island, popular for picnicking and walks in the summer months. South Boston is served by two MBTA Red Line Stations: Broadway and Andrew. The MBTA Silver Line also connects the South Boston Waterfront with South Station via a bus tunnel. The Mass Pike or I-90 is easily accessible to get to the western suburbs.
South Boston History
South Boston includes Dorchester Heights, where George Washington forced British troops to flee during the American Revolution. Southie has traditionally been a stronghold for the Irish, working clas but has seen soaring housing prices with gentrification. Traditions still abound with the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the opening of Sullivan’s, a popular seafood joint on Castle Island, which signals the beginning of spring.
