Saquish is a small, private collection of summer cottages that line the beach and headland in Plymouth. When the Pilgrims arrived, Saquish was an island and draws its name from a Wampanoag word meaning “abundance of clams.”

The community includes the headland — sometimes called “Saquish Head” — and the beach called Saquish Neck. Gurnet Saquish Neck is a private owned beach at the end of a peninsula at the entrance to Plymouth Bay. Access is restricted to property owners, residents, and their family and guests. The only access by land is from the Powder Point Bridge at Duxbury Beach, contributing to the “end of the world” ambiance of the community. The area is a haven for all waterfront activities, including kayaking, swimming, fishing, and boating.

The nearest retail and service area is in Hall’s Corner in Duxbury. Many summer cottages on the beach still operate solely on solar, wind, or propane power although others have been rebuilt as large waterfront homes ideal for a family compound or getaway.
