Sandwich was originally settled in 1637 by English colonists from Saugus, Massachusetts. It was incorporated in 1639 and along with Yarmouth is the oldest town on Cape Cod. The town is ripe with early American history and many homes and structures remain from the Colonial era. Sandwich has over 800 individual historic properties and three National Register Historic Districts: Jarvesville; Town Hall Square and Spring Hill.
