Sagamore Beach Real Estate
Sagamore Beach is part of the village of Sagamore in Bourne, MA fronting the Cape Cod Bay and the east end of the Cape Cod Canal. The community is largely a residential area with a small commercial district located near the bridge and MA 3A. The beach adjoins the Scusset Beach State Reservation, a popular camping and recreation area located in Sandwich. The streets in Sagamore Beach pay homage to the early Native American settlers and include names such as Sachem, Scusset, and Tecumseh.
In the early 1900s, attracted by the pristine beach and sweeping dunes and cliffs, the Christian Endeavor Society built a summer colony along the shores, greatly increasing the population. The group established the Sagamore Beach Colony Club in 1909, which endures to this day, offering a variety of programs and nationally renowned speakers. Many Victorian homes built on the bluffs from this era still grace the shoreline while a mix of capes and garrison-style communities are available closer to the commercial center.
