Rocky Nook

Rocky Nook is a coastal village in Kingston located on a small peninsula of land where the Jones River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Distinguished by rocky coasts and marshes, the area is home to descendants of the Pilgrims as well as local Indian tribes. The neighborhood grew to prominence in the early 1900s after investors built “Rocky Nook Park” as a summer resort aimed at families looking for a summer cottage rentals to escape the heat.

Over time, the town paved the dirt roads winding through the community and the cottages were torn down to make way for year-round homes. Today, the village boasts 900 homes and two beaches — Grays Beach, known for its shellfish and the village association’s private beach. Cape Cod and ranch-style homes as well as the occasional colonial comprise the bulk of the housing stock.
