Pleasant Lake Real Estate

Pleasant Lake Village Harwich MA

Situated in a tranquil area bordered by Long Pond, Pleasant Lake is one of the hidden jewels of the seven Harwich villages.  Indeed, local lore has it that for several years, Helen Keller summered in Pleasant Lake.  The community combines a small collection of traditional Cape Cod homes and beach cottages with cranberry bogs and sparkling ponds.  For years cranberry growing was Pleasant Lake's primary industry and continues to influence the area's economy.  Read more about Pleasant Lake real estate.

More About Pleasant Lake Real Estate

Pleasant Lake Community Overview

The historic Pleasant Lake General Store, in operation for more than 150 years, stands as a reminder of its earlier days as a stop on the Old Colony Railroad.  Local growers brought their crops to the combined store, post office and railway station, before sending them off Cape.  Today, bikers using the popular bike path that runs from Dennis to Wellfleet, stop for snacks at the store where the bike path intersects Route 124.

Pleasant Lake is also home to Long Pond, the Cape's largest lake and inland body of water, and a former landing area and base for seaplanes.  A sprinkling of beach cottages offer private beach and dock privileges on this popular watering hole that is also renowned for fishing and kayaking.

Pleasant Lake Location

Pleasant Lake is located off Exit 10 on Route 6, .3 miles from Harwich Center and is bordered by Long Pond, and the Hinckley and Seymour Ponds.
