Pleasant Lake Community Overview
The historic Pleasant Lake General Store, in operation for more than 150 years, stands as a reminder of its earlier days as a stop on the Old Colony Railroad. Local growers brought their crops to the combined store, post office and railway station, before sending them off Cape. Today, bikers using the popular bike path that runs from Dennis to Wellfleet, stop for snacks at the store where the bike path intersects Route 124.
Pleasant Lake is also home to Long Pond, the Cape's largest lake and inland body of water, and a former landing area and base for seaplanes. A sprinkling of beach cottages offer private beach and dock privileges on this popular watering hole that is also renowned for fishing and kayaking.
