Melville Park

Melville Park is an enclave of just 26 Queen Anne homes in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester. The houses are sprinkled around the one-acre Wellesley Park, one of three remaining gas lamp parks in Boston. The majority of the homes were developed in the late 1800s by architect, Arthur H. Vinal, who also lived at 35 Melville Avenue in a house of his own design. Many homes share a common floor plan, boasting Queen Anne silhouettes punctuated with distinct details such as corner turrets and classical porch columns, pediments, and swags. The park backdrop adds a suburban note to an urban location.

Melville Park draws its name from the streets that mark the northern and southern boundaries of the neighborhood — Park Street to the north; Melville Avenue to the south with Waldeck Street to the west and Upland Avenue to the east.
