Manomet
Manomet is a seaside village located on the eastern side of Plymouth, south of Route 3A. The community is named for the Manomet Native Americans whose settlement the colonists encountered perched on a hill when they arrived in 1620. Located south of Downtown Plymouth, Manomet is close to Whitehorse Beach and features a number of ponds, and beach community homes with private beach rights as well as a sprinkling of larger colonials located more inland. Young families find the area appealing for its excellent elementary schools as well as its resort feel away from the bustle of Downtown. Manomet is known for its Independence Day celebrations, which include bonfires and fireworks and as tradition dictates, take place on the 3rd of July.
The boundaries of Manomet are roughly recognized as Beaver Dam Road and MA RT 3 to the west, Ship Pond Road and Old Sandwich Road to the south, and MA RT 3A to the east and north.
