Humarock is a historic community located on the south end of Scituate on a peninsula connected to the mainland by two bridges. The waterfront neighborhood was once connected to the rest of Scituate by land but shifts in the river during the Portland Gale of 1898 effectively cut off Humarock and Fourth Cliff from the rest of the town. The adjacent South River is a popular destination for residents and visitors, offering a variety of recreational activities such as boating, swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Pristine white beaches, marina facilities and an assortment of eateries, shops, and services complete the picture.
The neighborhoods surrounding the village feature an array of housing options ranging from historic cottage communities to waterfront estates to newer waterfront townhouses in the Village at South River complex. Humarock Beach is known for its dazzling sunrises as well as sunsets looking west over the South River and marshlands.
