Hospital Hill

Hospital Hill is a historic neighborhood in the northeastern part of Milton that draws its name from Milton Hospital, which sits prominently on the hill, overlooking surrounding areas. Serving as a cornerstone of the community for decades, Milton Hospital is a well-regarded healthcare facility now part of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Another notable landmark, Neponset River Reservation, offers residents a natural retreat with walking trails, bird-watching spots and opportunities for kayaking and fishing. Nearby Blue Hills Reservation provides additional outdoor activities, including hiking, skiing and simply enjoying the area’s natural beauty.  Read more about Hospital Hill.

More About Hospital Hill

Hospital Hill Housing

Many of the neighborhood’s stately homes were built in the late 19th and early 20th century when Milton transitioned away from an agrarian economy to a more residential community. Strolling the community’s tree-lined streets, residents observe a variety of architectural styles from Victorian, Colonial Revival and Cape Cod. Period touches include elegant facades, spacious front porches, and well maintained gardens. Many homes have been renovated to preserve their ornate moldings and original hardwood while updating kitchens and bathrooms to meet modern requirements.

Hospital Hill Location

Similar to other Milton neighborhoods, a big part of the appeal of Hospital Hill is Milton’s excellent public school system as well as its close proximity to Boston. Hospital Hill’s borders include Neponset River to the north, Adams Street to the west, Brook Road to the south and Brush Hill Road to the east. The community is served by the MBTA red line and is close to the Expressway and other major highways.
