Griggs Park Real Estate

Griggs Park is a small enclave of homes and apartments in western Brookline just off Beacon Street and close to the Corey Farms area. The neighborhood surrounds Griggs Field, a former wetland that is now distinguished by stately weeping willow trees as well as winding scenic pathways. Griggs Park residents enjoy the convenience of living close to public transit and the shops and eateries in Washington Square but with the feel of living in a park, surrounded by trees, birds, and nature. The park houses a small pond, a picnic table and is also part of Brookline’s Green Dog program in which dogs are able to enjoy the park off-leash for designated hours. The homes surrounding the park are largely one and two-family properties dating from the early 20th century or later with views that uniquely combine wooded areas with cityscapes. With all of these advantages, many residents have lived in Griggs Park for decades and cite a close-knit community as part of the area’s appeal.   Read more about Griggs Park real estate.

More About Griggs Park Real Estate

Griggs Park Location

Griggs Park comprises a triangle of homes wedged between the intersection of Washington and Beacon Streets. The area features just two looped roads — Griggs Terrace and Griggs Road. Brandon Hall is the closest rail stop on the MBTA Green Line “C” branch. Downtown Boston is approximately 5 miles away.

Griggs Park History

The area draws its name from a former prominent resident and church deacon, Thomas B. Griggs, who was born in Brookline and owned land extending up Corey Hill. In 1901, Griggs donated land to the town for the express use as a public park and playground. The town opened the park and playground in 1903. In the late 1990s the town added new plantings and improved the pathways and sitting areas, positioning the park as a true oasis away from the bustle of the city.
