Eastham Pond Homes
With its acres of conservation lands, Eastham boasts some of the most accessible nature spots in the Northeast including sparkling fresh water ponds, a favorite of visitors and residents alike. These hidden jewels were formed as glaciers retreated, leaving large chunks of ice behind. As these chunks of ice melted, depressions, or "kettle holes" formed and later filled with water to create the hundreds of ponds along Cape Cod today.
The majority of the Eastham ponds are shallow at the edges and fringed by beach, offering safety and convenience for families as well as swimmers and nature lovers. Several of the smaller, more secluded ponds in Eastham give the feeling that the water is yours alone. Eastham is also a favorite freshwater fishing spot for bass and pickerel at Depot Pond, Great Pond, and Minister Pond, while Herring Pond offers stocked trout. A small collection of homes and cottages are located around the ponds with select homes offering deeded beach rights and deep water access.
