Crow Point
Crow Point is a waterfront enclave located along the western tip of Hingham. Originally built as a refuge for families to escape the bustle of the city with smaller summer cottages, the area has since evolved into a full-time residential community. Many of the smaller cottages have since been replaced by large multi-million dollar homes to take advantage of Crow Point’s coastal location. Surrounded on three sides by water, a number of residents enjoy waterfront views or some form of access to the water.
Some of the original residences, including distinctive examples of the Arts and Crafts style, still stand, while other properties have undergone substantial renovations with second and/or a third story additions as well as new garages. Part of the neighborhood’s charm is the mix of homes which vary from beachside bungalows and rambling ranches to classic colonials and sprawling contemporary beachfront properties.
For a modest price, home owners can join the neighborhood association which includes access to the private beach at the end of Kimball Beach Road while a slightly higher fee provides access to the boat dock at the end of Foley Beach Road along with the private beach. Young families have the advantage of an elementary school located right in the neighborhood.
Crow Point is located in West Hingham off Downer Avenue, north of MA RT 3A. This location is directly to the east of the Hingham Shipyard, which offers commuter boat service to Boston.
