Clam Point
Tucked away just south of Savin Hill in Dorchester, Clam Point is an enclave of historic properties overlooking Dorchester Bay. With its stately homes and sweeping views of the Bay, the area is in high demand. Close proximity to the Fields Corner Red Line stop adds to the area's appeal. Much of the neighborhood was the vision of noted architect, Luther Briggs, Jr., who designed buildings in the South End as well. The majority of the building took place in the mid-1800s with a large concentration of Italianate residences still intact today situated on large lots adorned with granite gate posts. Originally named “Harrison Square,” the neighborhood was renamed “Clam Point” in the 1970s because the shape of the land supposedly resembled a clam.
Clam Point is located along the waterfront in east Dorchester. Savin Hill is north of the area; Neponset/Port Norfolk is south with Commercial Point to the east and Fields Corner to the west.
