Cedar Point

Cedar Point is a waterfront neighborhood on the northern edge of Scituate Harbor that is home to one of the oldest and most historically significant lighthouses in New England. During the War of 1812, the two daughters of the lighthouse keeper were able to successfully fend off a British naval raiding party by fooling the British into thinking the loud music they were playing on a fife and drum came from a much larger army. The incident is known as “The Lighthouse Army of Two” and the sisters lived on in Scituate well into old age.

In addition to its colorful history, the neighborhood also boasts a mix of cottages that have been in families for generations as well as newer, sprawling oceanfront estates. A number of cottages have been enlarged and renovated to include all the modern conveniences while maintaining their coastal charm. Residents enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Scituate Harbor as well as close proximity to Old Scituate Light.

Cedar Point is found to the east of the Sand Hills neighborhood at the intersection of Turner Road and Jericho Road.  The community is also appealing to families and working professionals because of its convenient location near the Scituate Yacht Club as well as short drive to the commuter train to Boston.
