Buzzards Bay Real Estate
Buzzards Bay is a village located in the far northwest section of Bourne, north of the Cape Cod Canal. Originally Wampanoag territory, the village and bay derive their name from the “buzzards” that used to make their home there, although bird watchers have determined the “buzzards” were in actuality, ospreys.
The community is known for hosting President Grover Cleveland, who maintained a “summer white house” at his home in Agawam Point before the landmark burned down in a fire in 1973. Buzzards Bay is also home to the National Marine Life Center, dedicated to rehabilitating and releasing stranded dolphins, small whales, seals, and sea turtles as well as advancing scientific knowledge about marine wildlife.
Waterfront properties are available on Buttermilk Bay and Agawam Point while more affordable homes are concentrated around the downtown.
