Brighton Real Estate
Brighton is a bustling Boston neighborhood best known for its student population although young families, working professionals and a wave of new immigrants are increasingly moving into the neighborhood. Much of the community’s appeal lies in its close proximity to the many college and universities within its borders. While Brighton Avenue hosts a variety of restaurants and bars, its quieter side streets are lined with renovated condos and multi-family homes. Many homes are classic examples of the Victorian architecture popular at the time the area was built. Brighton’s 44,000 residents occupy 2.78 square miles, positioning Brighton as one of the more densely populated Boston communities. Read more about Brighton real estate.

More About Brighton Real Estate
Brighton Location
Brighton is located in the northwestern corner of the city and was originally part of Cambridge before annexation to Boston in 1874. The community is connected to Boston by the Allston neighborhood and in many cases is classified as one “Allston/Brighton” region. The area is also bounded by Cambridge, Watertown, Newton, and Brookline.
The B branch of the Green Line trolley travels the length of Allston-Brighton along its southeastern edge. The Mass Pike (I-90) is also conveniently accessed from Brighton.
Brighton History
Brighton initially separated from Cambridge after a bridge dispute but for many years was a rural town with a commercial center at its eastern end. Brighton played a major role in the Revolutionary War in establishing a cattle market in 1774 to supply the Continental Army. In the 1800s, Brighton evolved into one of the most popular gardening neighborhoods.
Brighton claims an eclectic group of writers, actors, and statesmen as former or current citizens including Amy Poehler, actress; former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, John Krasinski, Actor; and several members of the Kennedy family.
