Wrinkle Point in Dennis
With enticing views of the Bass River and Nantucket Sound, the West Dennis community of Wrinkle Point still remains a delightful location, years after its humble beginnings. The quirky name is said to originate from the “wrinkles”, or rather winkles that were once so plentiful that locals cooked up and dined on the tiny, edible snails right from the shore.
Now decades later, the private community is home to a clubhouse overlooking the river, a swimming pool and two private beaches. You’ll also find a marina with the benefit of direct boating access to Nantucket Sound.
Some homes in the community even have their own private boat docks right on the Bass River. In addition, you’ll also find some small boats for community members to use.
The location makes a great place to launch a kayak and explore the region too, or to have some fun spotting everything from plovers to blue crab and other native species in the area. The neighborhood additionally hosts a number of planned social events for its residents throughout the season, from dinners and cocktail parties to the traditional bike parade on the 4th of July.
Made up of only about 50-acres of land, Wrinkle Point is home to some well-kept and maintained 1950s-era homes, plus also some newer construction, riverfront homes. This makes it possible to find a charming more established home, an updated Cape Cod, or even a newer, more modernly designed and accented home in Wrinkle Point.
Found just across the river from South Yarmouth, Wrinkle Point also sits to the south of Route 28. This puts area residents only about a quarter mile away from the fun of West Dennis Beach. A fantastic location for windsurfing and other water games, the popular beach is a real treasure for those living in and visiting the area of Wrinkle Point.
