The Best Ways to Celebrate New Year’s on the Cape

The holiday season is only getting started, but already some are starting to make plans to ring in the New Year. Here are some of the best ways to celebrate New Year’s on the Cape:

First Night Chatham

If you’re looking for a family-friendly way to usher in 2022, consider coming out to First Night Chatham. It’s been a tradition on the Cape for decades, and this year it’s all outdoors. The event this year features a costumed road race with costume judging, ice carvings, miniature golf, and the opportunity to build something on a grand scale with life-sized LEGOS.

First Night Chatham also features live music, a photo scavenger hunt, luminaries and town photos. If midnight seems way too late to try and stay up for fireworks, you can always catch some early fireworks kicking off at 5:30pm at Veterans Field.

First Light Provincetown

First Light in Provincetown is promoted as the final festival of the holiday season. This four-day event includes performances, parties and more. Other things on tap this year include live entertainment, a bike ride and a holiday market.

One of the biggest events of all is the fireworks display, kicking off at MacMillan Pier at dusk on the 1st. The first day of the year also features a polar bear plunge with participants taking a dip in chilly Provincetown Harbor.

Cape Cod Enchanted Village

January 1st is also the last day of the season to experience the sights and sounds of Cape Cod Enchanted Village in Hyannis. This is the 20th year for the village, found at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa. The nearly month-long event features thousands of lights, miniature trees and other holiday-themed favorites.

NYE Rooftop Bash at Pelham House

There are additionally some resorts and businesses planning events of their own, including the Pelham House Resort in Dennis Port. Patrons will be treated to a rooftop bash complete with either cocktails or a four-course dinner and drinks on the rooftop.
