The perfect spot to take a stroll on Cape Cod, the iconic Sandwich Boardwalk is extremely popular, especially during the summer months. In fact, it’s on National Geographic’s list of the top 10 boardwalks in the nation.

It just so happens it’s the only boardwalk on the list without food or rides. Instead, visitors simply enjoy the scenic surroundings, including birdwatching and the sounds of the tide.

Constructed of hundreds of wooden planks, the more than 1,300-foot long boardwalk stretches over beach grass and salt marsh before connecting up to the beach. Although many view the boardwalk as simply a scenic location, it has a more practical purpose.

Pilgrim Monument Lighting- Nov 27-Jan 6
Provincetown

The Pilgrim Monument is a great place to visit between now and early January. The monument is currently lit up with more than 3,000 lights. This year’s lighting also commemorates the upcoming 400th anniversary of the Mayflower’s first landing.

Lobster Pot Tree- Nov 30-January
Provincetown

While you’re in Provincetown, don’t miss the Lobster Pot Tree. Formed by more than 100 lobster pots, the unique tree includes thousands of lights, buoys and plastic lobsters. It stays lit up through January.

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and that means it’s almost time for one of the best Cape Cod holiday traditions to begin. Each year, Gardens Aglow lights up the grounds of Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich.

Gardens Aglow officially kicks of the Friday after Thanksgiving. From late afternoon through evening guests are invited to enjoy light displays throughout the gardens. The event also includes a number of activities and holiday-themed décor throughout the museum’s grounds and its galleries.

Kids are invited to visit Santa in a vintage Model T or take a spin on a vintage carousel. There’s also a model train display up for the event and families can have some fun roasting marshmallows in the fire pits for

Home to an 18-hole golf course and a large clubhouse, The Ridge Club in Sandwich is in for some improvements, likely slated for the near future. Recently coming under new management, the new owners are currently developing plans for making some capital improvements to the club.

While the new owners aren’t releasing many details just yet, they’re not anticipating making too many changes to the long-standing private club. They may, however, present more options for members to enjoy a larger range of clubs. The ClubCorp network already offers up access to hundreds of private clubs and offerings at more than 1,000 resorts, hotels and entertainment venues.

From museums to historic sites, restaurants to old inns, you’ll find it all as you explore the varied options of Sandwich Village. The oldest town on Cape Cod, Sandwich Village was first founded in the 1600s, named for Sandwich, England.

First settled by around 60 families, residents constructed a Town House and gristmill. The introduction of a large glass factory then led to a major boost in the town’s population, and set the stage for decades of progress.

Now some of the old historic homes and buildings house bed-and-breakfasts, while you’ll also find rebuilt properties adorned with furnishings with a nod to the town’s past. You’ll find antique furniture in old homes and old businesses, plus that famous Sandwich glass.

Cape Cod is known for many things, including its incredible natural beauty and its history. Some of that history is proudly on display at the Sandwich Glass Museum, and with a unique twist.

While much of the Cape is renowned for its maritime history, the oldest town on the Cape has ties to glass, or more specifically glass manufacturing. That’s because the town of Sandwich, formerly tied to agriculture, eventually transitioned to a town heavily tied to the beginning of the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company, founded in the area in 1825.

It’s said the company was a world leader in glass manufacturing during the early 19th century. While its factory has long since closed, these days it’s still possible to watch glassblowers create glass for tourists and
