Pleasant Bay: Boating, Beach & More

Pleasant Bay - Cape Cod MA

Whether sailing, kayaking, fishing or lounging on the sand, Pleasant Bay presents a wealth of options for Cape Cod visitors and locals alike. Close to Harwich, Chatham and Orleans, the bay is extremely popular with visitors to both Nauset Beach and Barrier Beach.

As Cape Cod’s largest saltwater estuary, Pleasant Bay has likely been known by many names over the years. It’s believed Native Americans once called the protected waterway Monomoyick Bay, while an early explorer referred to it as Manamock. It took about a century more for the current name of Pleasant Bay to emerge.

To this day, though, Pleasant Bay continues to live up to its most current namesake, a relaxing and peaceful location that’s inspirational to all who visit. It’s also a great location for boating, a place where one can spend hours kayaking through the waters of the bay, exploring all that the area has to offer. The northern edge of the bay is where you’ll find Little Pleasant Bay, with its peaceful islands.

Of course the area has changed and evolved over the years, now home to several beautiful homes, as well. The sprawling residences are often complimented by extreme privacy, with a large amount of private acreage and docks right on the bay. You’ll also find some properties with private sandy beaches and sophisticated Cape Cod appeal.

Even without your own property, it’s easy to experience the draw of Pleasant Bay. Wequassett Resort, in particular, offers up a front row seat to everything, with a resort experience that’s hard to top. The upscale hideaway is joined by luxurious accommodations, including swimming pools, beaches, several Har-Tru tennis courts and 18-holes of championship golf.

Whether putting down your own roots, basking in resort luxury or just enjoying an afternoon out on the water, there’s plenty to entertain just about everyone on Pleasant Bay.
