Nauset Light Beach a Favorite in Eastham
A favorite of residents and visitors alike in Eastham, Nauset Light Beach remains one of the most popular beaches on the Outer Cape. Known for its fantastic surfing and a full mile of sand for lounging, swimming and body surfing, Nauset Light Beach is an ideal location for families, with lifeguards on duty during the peak summer season.
The clean sand and scenic beauty of the beach makes it the perfect location for a day trip or just to capture some incredible photographs. Newly constructed stairs, replacing those destroyed by recent beach erosion, now lead visitors down to the water from the parking lot while a large lookout provides the ideal location for taking in the vast scenery.
Part of the Cape Cod National Seashore, this saltwater beach also includes restrooms and showers. Framed by large dunes it is somewhat smaller than other seashore beaches, yet still large enough to handle the seasonal crowds. As well, visitors also flock to the outer beach from early spring to summer to try and catch a glimpse of the nesting piping plovers that return annually to the region. Meanwhile, the landmark Nauset Light is found near the beach parking lot, dating back to the late 1800s and marking one of the most recognizable lighthouses in the world.
When you do visit, keep in mind the popularity of the beach sometimes makes parking hard to come by if you don’t head out early. Often the parking lot is full by 10am during the peak summer months, though one-day and season-long parking passes are available.
Located on Ocean View Drive, about a mile to the north of Coast Guard Beach, Nauset Light Beach remains one of the most popular destinations for beachgoers in Eastham. The beach commonly fills up with beach umbrellas and families ready to soak in the sun and have a day of fun on the sand and surf all summer long.
