More single-family homes are coming to The Cottages at New Seabury. The development’s fourth phase is expected to bring another 88 homes to the area.

Infrastructure work for Phase 4 is currently underway. The new homes will come in the same eight floor plans already constructed during earlier development. Phases 1 and 2 are both already finished and sold out.

Phase 3 of The Cottages is under construction. All homes in this phase, however, are sold. Phase 3 consists of 74 single-family homes.

The award-winning development features stylish cottages with open floor plans and white picket fences. Generally, the homes range from around 1,400 to 2,300 square feet of living space.

Efforts are underway to once again nourish the Poppy Spit. The Popponesset Spit will be taking in thousands of new cubic yards of sand as part of an ongoing dredging project.

That’s on top of the 10,000 cubic yards of sand which was trucked in this past winter. It’s all in conjunction with an ongoing effort to widen and heighten a beach that’s been routinely battered by storms, wind and ocean currents over the years and decades.

Several years ago, a non-profit deemed the spit to be in crisis. Board members of Save Popponesset Bay then initiated a two-phase plan to help protect the spit and the bay.

Under phase one of the plan crews will be hauling sand to the Mashpee beach to help increase its width and to increase the height of

The prestigious Willowbend Country Club brings a new luxury neighborhood to Cape Cod. Its newest neighborhood consists of 22 residences situated next door to the club’s third nine-hole golf course.

The nine-acre, gated neighborhood in Mashpee is made up of eleven duplex-style buildings, each consisting of two family units. The homes all surround a swimming pool and provide for the added convenience of a low maintenance lifestyle.

Popponesset may not be as well-known as some of its nearby counterparts, but it’s certainly gaining in reputation. For years the community was known as a destination for the middle-class of Boston, and its charming character remains strong to this day.

Beauty abounds at Popponesset Spit, in recent years named one of the nation’s top restored beaches. Much of that honor is credited to efforts by Save Popponesset Bay and the Massachusetts Audubon Society for helping to restore the threatened barrier beach.

Popponesset Spit is not only a privately owned barrier beach but also a wildlife sanctuary. Owned and protected by non-profits, the spit provides a home for endangered shorebirds, while Popponesset Bay is equally important for the role in plays in sheltering aquatic life.

It’s common to spot piping plovers and other birds in the area. At the same time, the barrier beach also helps to protect area property owners in New Seabury, plus it’s a popular location for fishermen, boaters and for beachgoers

With miles of sandy beaches and an extensive amount of water frontage, it’s time to escape to New Seabury. Located in South Mashpee on Nantucket Sound, New Seabury was first created and developed in the 1960s and remains a true treasure to this day.

New homes and condos began going up in the area just after the mid-century mark, along with a clubhouse, championship golf course and an executive course. By the early 1980s, New Seabury was already home to hundreds of residences, about a quarter of which featured year-round homeowners.

By the 1990s, million dollar residences began popping up along the waterfront and the golf course, followed up by a larger and more impressive new clubhouse. The area is now home to a private beach club and a country club
