Harry and Taylor Move On but Cape Cod is Still a Celebrity Hotspot

Despite a couple of high-profile departures in recent years, Cape Cod remains a celebrity hotspot. Several big names have owned homes on Cape Cod over the years, and some still have a connection.

If you want to own a piece of Tinseltown on the Cape yourself, you can for a cool $12.5 million. That’s how much singer Harry Connick Jr recently listed his furnished home for. The five-bedroom, 5.5-bath Chatham home sits on well over one-acre of land, overlooking ocean views.

Constructed in the early 1960s, the Shingle-style home is surrounded by established landscaping and towering trees. Extensively renovated on the inside, the home features hardwood floors, a kitchen island with room for seating, a brick fireplace, and stainless-steel appliances. The majority of rooms in the home offer water views.

Taylor Swift once owned property in Hyannis Port. Around a decade ago, it’s said she purchased the home while dating someone in the Kennedy family. She later sold the home at a steep profit.

Actress Meg Ryan’s father once taught school in Chatham. She’s been known to rent homes on Cape Cod, too. It’s said the late actor Gregory Peck owned a home in the 1940s on Cape Cod. The same home was reportedly previously owned by another big Hollywood star, James Cagney.

Other celebrity spottings on Cape Cod over the years have included actor Samuel L Jackson, Robert Vaughn and Luke Wilson. Once married singers Carly Simon and James Taylor owned a home on Martha’s Vineyard, which is also where funnyman Dan Aykroyd has owned property.

Actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen are said to have been married at their home on Martha’s Vineyard. Director Spike Lee had a home built there in the early 1990s overlooking Farm Neck Golf Club.

Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger purchased an estate on Nantucket in the mid 1990s. Television commentator Greta Van Susteren has previously purchased a home on Nantucket, too.
