From sailing to tennis, walking trails to ice cream shops, there’s plenty of family-friendly fun to be found in Cataumet. As one of the Town of Bourne’s nine villages, peaceful Cataumet is a true summer destination for those headed to Cape Cod.
Located on Buzzards Bay, Cataumet sits to the south of Pocasset and the north of Falmouth. For fun and recreation in Cataumet, head to the Cape Cod Canal.
This popular outdoor spot sits nearby and offers up seven miles of walking and biking trails. It’s also a good spot for fishing, as the canal links up Buzzards Bay to Cape Cod Bay. Sightseeing boats also cruise up and down the canal.
Another spot to get out and enjoy nature is the Cataumet Greenway. The nearly 95-acres of protected land offers up a network of trails allowing visitors to explore wetlands, woodlands and waterways.
Most of the greenway’s trails wind through hills and forest, with room to take a shorter walk or participate in several hours of outdoor fun. The location is a good spot to take in views of native plant-life and wildlife, as well.
For fun out on the water, you can always book a guided kayak tour or rent a paddle board and head out on the calm water of Red Brook Harbor. Back on dry land, the Cataumet Arts Center is an interesting little spot to take some art classes, view exhibitions, or enjoy one of the site’s art and cultural events.
The Bobby Baker “Art Barn” Gallery is another unique spot. It’s the place to go to view mostly photography in Bourne.
Cataumet is also home to the private community of Scraggy Neck. The community offers up access to tennis courts, beaches, boat launches and playgrounds.
In addition, Cataumet sits a mere 20-minute drive from the more abundant shops and restaurants of Downtown Falmouth and Mashpee Commons.
