Best 2022 Activities for Kids on the Cape
If you’re looking for something fun to do with your family on Cape Cod in 2022, you won’t have to look far. In fact, there are some great activities on the Cape that are fun for those of all ages.
Most people enjoy spending time on area beaches, and for good reason. Cape Cod has plenty of family-friendly beaches, including Coast Guard Beach in Eastham. Paine’s Creek Beach in Brewster is a fun spot to hunt for horseshoe crabs and fiddlers, or simply swim and splash. There are also several beaches that are great for finding shells.
Enjoy parks & natural space
Cape Cod National Seashore in Wellfleet has sugary white sand beaches, plus plenty of space for hiking and biking. There’s even a junior program for kids. There are also some fun parks to explore for outdoor adventures. This includes Nickerson State Park, where families can go camping, biking, walking, hiking, or fishing.
If you want to see a bit more of the area’s stunning natural scenery, you can always jump on the Shining Sea Bikeway. The path runs for more than 10 miles from North Falmouth to Woods Hole along the path of an old rail line. Almost the entire bikeway is paved, plus it has a convenient bike repair station. The Cape Cod Rail Trail runs for 25-miles and takes you through six Cape Cod towns.
There’s something truly special about visiting local lighthouses, too. Chatham Light is one of just a handful of lighthouses in the nation that’s still in operation. Nauset Light sits on the National Seashore near Eastham, while Highland Lighthouse is in North Truro.
Visit area museums
There are additionally plenty of area museums to explore. Heritage Museums and Gardens sits in Sandwich with 100-acres of trails and well-manicured grounds. The Cape Cod Children’s Museum, meanwhile, is in Mashpee.
