Adams Shore is Quincy’s Hidden Jewel

Originally started in the late 1800s as a place for resort homes, Adams Shore remains a hidden jewel for potential homebuyers to this day. This Quincy neighborhood may be small in population, but the area is overflowing with charm.

Some of the most incredible views of Boston are possible from the waterfront in Adams Shore, as most of its homes were built to face the bays. Quincy Bay is the northern border of Adams Shore, while Town River Bay sits on its southern edge. To the east and west are Houghs Neck and Merrymount.

This coastal neighborhood takes its name from the region’s former landowners, including former US Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. While it’s no longer just a place for summer vacation homes, Adams Shore is still an extremely desirable place to call home in the Boston area.

These days you’ll find single-family homes, mostly built up between the 1940s and 1970. The homes tend to vary in price, depending on their size, age, and the distance to the beach and waterfront.

Some homes are within walking distance of the beach, while others deliver direct water views. You will also now find some newer condos and apartments that face the water in the neighborhood.

This tight-knit community is close enough to the delights of Boston, but at the same time delivers more of a small-town vibe. Area residents are welcome to become members of the Adams Shore Community Association for a small annual fee.

While mostly just filled with homes, you will find a smaller collection of shops, restaurants, and other conveniences situated along Sea Street, which is the neighborhood’s main commercial roadway. Many homeowners and locals also take advantage of Heron Beach, which is a popular spot for swimming, plus there’s a playground not far from the beach, as well.
