With regular season games running from mid-June trough mid-August, the Cape Cod Baseball League provides family-friendly fun for those on the Cape, and a place for future MLB players to hone their skills. From Hyannis to Brewster, Orleans to Chatham, the league is made up of  ten different teams, divided up into the east and west divisions.

Around since the late 1800s, teams now play in a 44-game regular-season matchup, with a postseason concluding with a championship series and the popular All Star Game in late July. The teams are made up of some of the top college players in the nation, recruited to play each summer in one of the country’s best amateur summer leagues.

Known for its warm and calm water, Cockle Cove Beach is a true family favorite, ideal for swimming and windsurfing, taking a stroll or lounging on the soft sand. While long and narrow, the beach is large enough to handle visitors and popular for kayakers due to its small waves.

Located in South Chatham, the saltwater beach includes seasonal lifeguards and restrooms, conveniently right on Cockle Cove Road and just off Route 28. While the protected swimming beach includes some shallow areas for the younger crowd, it’s also a great location for those of all ages.

stage harbor road real estate chatham maFor years it’s been up for discussion, but now Stage Harbor Road in Chatham is even closer to a possible listing on the National Register of Historic Places. An official with the Massachusetts Historical Commission was just in town, touring the site.

Chatham’s historical commission requested the state commission come up with an opinion on the matter, as part of efforts to help protect historic structures in the area. A representative of the town commission points to some mostly intact homes that were constructed between the 18th to the early 20th century. Some say these homes can be traced back to Chatham’s development from a maritime to a summer resort community.
