Ideally located on Commonwealth Avenue in Back Bay, 333 Commonwealth was originally built in 1895 in Back Bay as the Empire, an apartment hotel with a glamorous and colorful history. The property was home to numerous Boston luminaries and was later known as “Maison Lafayette” and Hotel Lafayette in the early 1940s. The building evolved into a home for the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm in the 1960s and was ultimately converted into 23 condos in the early 1980s.
