333 Commonwealth
Ideally located on Commonwealth Avenue in Back Bay, 333 Commonwealth was originally built in 1895 in Back Bay as the Empire, an apartment hotel with a glamorous and colorful history. The property was home to numerous Boston luminaries and was later known as “Maison Lafayette” and Hotel Lafayette in the early 1940s. The building evolved into a home for the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm in the 1960s and was ultimately converted into 23 condos in the early 1980s.
Spanning six stories, the building retains its original character with commanding views of the Charles River from most units as well as features fireplaces, crown moldings and soaring ceilings. Hardwood floor accents the contemporary kitchens and modern fixtures.
